Buffalo Trace Dinner

Big Grove Tavern is proud to present our second annual Buffalo Trace Distillery Whiskey Dinner! This is a ticketed five course dinner, with five rare whiskeys, paired with five delicious selections from the mind of Chef du Cuisine Raúl Parada. We have access to some of the finest and most coveted American Whiskeys in the world. Last year’s event was such a memorable time, we had to do it again!

Additional flights and tastings will be available, featuring Pappy Van Winkle 12, 20, and 23-Year, as well as other award-winning whiskeys from the famed Buffalo Trace distillery. A representative of the distillery will be in attendance to offer insights into each whiskey. The event is hosted by our own General Manager, Scott McIntosh.

First Course

Chesapeake Bay “Skinny Dipper” Oyster served with fresh scallop and shrimp ceviche in a tomato, onion, jicama and cucumber salsa with a bourbon granita.

Paired with Rip Van Winkle 10-Year


Second Course

Grilled Peach Salad with farro, red pickled onions,arugula, farro, blueberry, pistachio in a herb and maple bourbon vinaigrette.

Third Course

Beef Tenderloin and and Day Boat Scallops, with fried shallots, esquites-style corn, shaved Brussels sprouts, red cabbage in a chili soy glaze.

Paired with Pappy Van Winkle 15-Year


Fourth Course

Bone-in Veal Chop in a bourbon demi-glace with purple potatoes and sautéed kale and chard, with sun dried tomatoes and blue cheese .

Paired with William LaRue Weller

Fifth Course

Flan in a demura and rye whiskey sauce with cumin and orange zest. Topped with a whiskey whipped cream.

Happy Hour

 Every Monday through Friday Big Grove offers our full draft selection for 1/2 price between the hours of 3pm and 6pm. We also offer any bottle of our hand picked wines to be purchased with a twenty five percent discount during happy hour as well.


Bottomless Mimosa Bar

On Saturday and Sunday, with the purchase of any brunch entree, you can enjoy our bottomless mimosa bar for $12 for up to two hours! We offer a rotating selection of two flavors each weekend.

Chef Raúl Parada uses fresh ingredients to create dishes full of flavor and zest, ensuring that Big Grove always offers classic tavern cuisine, with a modern flair.

Hand Cut Steaks

We serve steakhouse quality beef at everyday tavern prices, cooked on a 5-foot long lava rock grill. We source our beef from Midwestern farms whenever we can, to allow us a closer eye on the quality of our products.

Weekend Brunch

Perfect for the late riser, or just for people who like to eat breakfast food early in the afternoon, we offer our Brunch Menu from 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM every Saturday and Sunday morning. We offer classics like pancakes, bacon, eggs, hash browns, and toast, alongside some delicious signature dishes like our new Tofu Breakfast Wrap, and our Carne Asada Huevos Rancheros.

Perfect to whet the appetite, our Deviled Eggs and Fried Brussels Sprouts are the talk of the town. Our fresh, house-made Soft Pretzel Braid comes with a pilsner-cheese fondue that’ll have you begging for more, and a mustard that will knock your socks off. (The mustard might clear your sinuses, too.)

Fresh Seafood

Our seafood options are the best in downstate Illinois for quality and freshness. We start shucking fresh Oysters every Thursday afternoon, within minutes of delivery, and do so until we run out over the weekend. Our Ceviche gets raves as well.

Elevated Dining 

At Big Grove Tavern, we take common dishes to the next level with creative ingredient combinations. We source our beef from Midwest farms.  We support and offer Central Illinois produce. Our baked goods either are created in house or delivered by a local bakery daily. When it comes to flavor, we think Big; when it comes to our sources, we think Local.

 
The food is good, the atmosphere is great, and the staff were very friendly. Outdoor seating is available, and often very occupied, but the indoor seating is great and beautiful as well. Great place to get some drinks and some food with your friends surrounded by a chic atmosphere.

Big Grove Tavern is located in the heart of downtown Champaign at the corner of Main, Church, and Neil streets. We are in the center of a vibrant downtown community of theaters, live music venues, diverse bars and restaurants as well as the beautiful West Side Park. We are also surrounded by live concerts, dancing, summer park and street events, movies and live stage theater as well the annual, world-acclaimed Ebertfest film festival.

In addition to street parking, we offer two hour discount validations for the Municipal parking deck located across Neil Street, behind the M2 building (through the breezeway). The Hill Street Parking Deck is a 6 level, 600 vehicle parking garage with entrances on Randolph and Hill streets. They accept cash at two different pay stations, and credit card at the exits, so no more scrounging for coins, yellow envelopes on your windshield, clearing off snow, or getting in to a sun baked car. Note: weekends are free!
